The router

If you do not have a Windows or Mac computer that has the credentials saved Wi-Fi, or if you try to do it with your phone or tablet, you can always try to find the Wi-Fi password saved by the router. Obviously, this will only work if you are connected to the network router – remember that you can connect to the router with an Ethernet cable as well. Tablets and mobile phones can not move forward unless they are already connected to the Wi-Fi network.

The steps may vary slightly with each router. Changing the wrong setting here could disturb the wireless network for everyone, so proceed at your own risk.

1. First, open your browser and go to the local address of the router – which is usually http://192.168.1.1 – but the URL varies depending on the brand of router, so consult the manual (or official website) to find the right direction.

2. Enter the user name and password. Again, this will vary by manufacturer, and it can and should change passwords too. By default, however, MTNL and Airtel both routers provide both the username and password are “admin” (without the quotes other routers often have “password” without the quotes, the password default). You should check with the router manufacturer or your ISP if this combination does not work.

3. Click Internet, and then click Wireless. In some wireless routers option may be visible in the main section will screen. In this security type (WEP, WPA, etc.) and key. Some routers can have these options in a safety data sheet.

You may have to reboot the router if nothing works. Do not do this unless you can not connect to the network using any device. Reset the router is an extreme measure and that will reconfigure the network to reestablish the connection to the Internet. Unless you know how to do, we suggest you contact your ISP for help in this process.
