How to Properly Clean All Your Gadgets Without Ruining Them
No matter how clean you keep a home, their computers and gadgets are bound to get a little dirty here and there. Here is what you need to clean and how to do it without hurting them.
Your gadgets are not as strong as they might seem, and just spraying Windex around and rubbing with a paper towel can cause all sorts of damage to a device. However, they are remarkably easy to always clean and when you do it well, and you can make the most of it with only a few simple household items (or at least a trip to CVS). Here’s how.

Clean your monitor with water (or diluted white vinegar)
LCD screens are very sensitive, and do not want to press hard on them, because this can burn pixels. Instead, turn off your monitor (so you can better see the dirty stains) and hand dry microfiber cloth. Many monitors and other gadgets come with one. From there, just gently wipe the screen. If necessary, add a little water. In most cases, this should be all you need.
If you have a more abundant buildup of stains or dirt, resist the urge to press hard and wet the cloth with a 50-50 mixture of water and white vinegar. You can use a special cleaner monitor if you wish, but the vinegar / water mixture should work perfectly. If you can, use distilled water instead of tap water, because tap water is likely to leave white spots on your screen or other salt deposits.
Remember, that you do this, you want to use a soft cloth, preferably microfibers. Do not use paper such as paper towels, toilet paper or toilet paper as it may scratch the screen. If you do not have a microfiber cloth, coffee filters will do in a pinch. Remember also that never spray a liquid on the monitor itself, always spray it on your first canvas.
Clean your touch screen gadgets with water, dilute vinegar or alcohol
As your monitor, the best cleaner for a touchscreen device is old water or a 50/50 mixture of distilled water and vinegar. That said, touch screens are a bit more sturdy than LCD screens, due to the fact that they are meant to be hit, so you can press a little harder if you have a particularly stubborn point (do not Go too far, however).
Like everything else, use a microfibre cloth and spray the fabric, not on the screen, with a small amount of liquid before cleaning. The last thing you need is to get your phone wet, cancel your warranty and break something important (such as taking charge).
If you want not only clean, but disinfect your touchscreen, you can use some isopropyl alcohol on some devices (Apple, for example, is not recommended). Check your manufacturer’s warnings to see what allowed.

Clean your keyboard with compressed air and rubbing alcohol
We mentioned before, drunk our friends how-to geek has a good summary of how to thoroughly clean your keyboard. If the keyboard is slightly dirty, you should be blew to get by two things: blow some compressed air between the keys (to blow dust) and cleaning the dirty keys with a pad soaked in alcohol to remove the Oil, dirt and germs. Also, do not forget to turn off the keyboard (if wireless) or disconnect (if the cable) before starting the cleaning. Clean the mouse with a little water or alcohol
